On Monday, 5th August 2024, International Students of Universitas Andalas attended the opening ceremony of the Joint International Conference on Language and Society organized by the Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Andalas and the Academy of Malay Studies, University of Malaya.

The opening held at the West Sumatra Governor Auditorium was formally opened by the deputy governor, Dr. Audy Joinaldy, and attended by the Rector of Universitas Andalas, Efa Yonnedi, PhD,  Dean of Faculty of Humanities, Prof Herwandi, the vice deans.    

The rector of Universitas Andalas gave a short speech to welcome the key note and invited speakers, and the conferences participants  from Malaysia, Vietnam and Camboja as well the international students from different countries.  He also expressed his high appreciation to the governor for the wonderful dinner and  Minangkabau traditional dances performance, performed by The Syofyani Dance.  

Hopefully, the Joint International Conference  becomes a forum for  researchers and practitioners in related fields to exchange ideas and discuss current issues in the field of Language and Society.
